Just Stunning Photography

Allow me the pleasure of introducing Jasmine to you. Jasmine, with the assistance of her friend Cassie, and Yvonne Stokes from Bombshell Make Up, ventured to a lakeside location for a Mardi Gras inspired glamour shoot.

Jasmines complexion well suited the vibrancy of both the accessories and the mood of the shoot. Her ability and willingness to really get into the spirit of the shoot were matched by her dexterity and ability.

Ahoy there matey!

Here are some photos from my latest nautical themed shoot with Kahli!

Yvonne from Bombshell Make Up & Beauty managed to arrange a yacht for us to shoot on! Such an awesome location for the theme!

The yacht owners, Terry and Bernadette were all too welcoming to a few extra guests on board, so Greg, Yvonne, Kahli, Shane and myself hopped on for a quiet sail out on Lake Macquarie. The lake was calm, but the odd slight rocking from side to side still took a bit to get used to. The last thing I wanted was for my camera to head overboard!

We managed a few outfit changes over the course of the afternoon, for a variety of looks shown below.

Special thanks to Terry and Bernadette for the use of their yacht, to Greg and Shane for ensuring my lighting didn’t go overboard, and to Kahli and Yvonne for their time and efforts in ensuring the shoot was a success!

It was with Cassie and Yvonne that I found myself at the most majestic of locations.

Once a castle, now a ruin, we entered into a world of brick and graffiti and overgrown vines for the shoot of a lifetime!

With my new Elinchrom Ranger portable studio light in tow, we searched the cavernous ruin for some amazing locations, and found a few suitable backdrops for Cassie’s stunning form.

Sadly our time at this rarely used but magnificent location was limited, so we packed up and left the place untouched.

Thanks must go to Yvonne for the makeup, and to Cassie for her time and the owner of our secret space for the use of the premises!

Over 12 months ago I got an enquiry from Hayley asking if I would be interested in taking some photos of her. Hayley is from Sydney and we planned to meet up around the Central Coast for some photos around the lake.

Due to time restraints and other commitments on both our parts, the shoot never happened, but we became good friends in the meantime.

Fast forward to the end of 2011 and we finally got together for a shoot!

Hayley wanted some natural looking photos with golden tones and sun flares, and long grass as a location. I think we nailed it!

I was assisted by Naomi for this shoot, and makeup was by Yvonne from Bombshell Makeup and Beauty.

If you found my site through the help of a search engine, chances are its due to the help from Craig and his team at NLYZR.

A little while back I won the opportunity for Craig to work his magic on this site to improve my rankings in search results from Google and other search engines.

NLYZR is a tool developed by Craig,used to determine how well your website or blog is optimized to be found via search terms. They offer various packages for optimizing just a few pages, right up to your entire site.

Within a week of Craig working on my site, traffic to my site had increased ten times over! For any business trying to increase visitors to their site, I can’t recommend NLYZR enough. It really does work!

To be a wedding photographer is quite a very important job to undertake. It is such a privilege to be asked to share in someone’s special day, and it is for this reason I am very selective as to which weddings I want to be a part of. Not all photographers are right for all weddings, but when Kyle and Shernay asked if I would capture their special day, I knew it was right for me.

I first met Shernay many years ago, flipping burgers at a well known fast food place. It was through the love of performance cars, a few years later I met her husband to be, Kyle. Being good friends allowed for a very relaxed and casual wedding day, with many memorable moments shared by all.

My day began by meeting Shernay and her bridesmaids at the hairdressers. She was relaxed, with smiles all round from the girls. After hair and make up I followed the girls back to Shernay’s parents place where I saw my burger flipping friend transform in the most amazing bride I’ve seen.

I left Shernay and went round to pay the boys a visit. They were out in the backyard just relaxing with a few beers around the barbecue. Time was getting on so they started getting dressed. All was going well until it came time to tie their ties, and, well, there were a few attempts to say the least!

I grabbed some formal shots of the boys before leaving them to be on their way to the church.

Heading back to Shernay’s place, I got the girls together for some group shots and it wasn’t long before the cars arrived. Two flawless Mitsubishi Evoultions. There was no chance of being late to the ceremony in these cars!

The ceremony went off without a hitch, although I think some of the limelight was stolen by little Olivia, the flower girl. Here she is, dancing in the aisle, loving life without a care in the world!

As the ceremony came to a close, we were hindered by 5 minutes of light rain, before getting on our way to Caves Beach for some bridal party photos.

Arriving down on the beach we came across another bridal party there for photos, but fortunately the area inside one of the caves was free, and allowed a nice backdrop to create some memories for the newly weds.

We finished up at the beach and made our way to Valentine Bowling Club for the reception. The venue overlooked the lake, and I was able to keep an eye on the sunset. Between the entree and the main meal I quickly rushed to the water front with Kyle and Shernay. The sunset turned out spectacular, and fortunately we were at the right place at the right time, and I captured these photos as the sun disappeared.

I’d like to thank Kyle and Shernay for inviting me to capture their special day. It was a beautiful wedding, and suited both of you perfectly. Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together guys :)

I’ve always admired sunset photos taken by Gerry Tierney, so when given the opportunity to head down to Toukley to one of his secret locations, I couldn’t say no! It was the second weekend in a row we tried for a decent sunset, and the weather played nice this time.

We were accompanied by Nammo and Bud for what turned out to be quite a nice sunset. The wispy clouds stayed around long enough to add some interest on the horizon, and the glassy water reflected the setting sun to add some awesome colour.

After the sun had set we all headed down the road to the club for dinner and a chat and then called it a night.

Myself and two photographer friends, Nammo and The Amazing Moo meet up once a month on a Sunday to play around with various lights, light modifiers, and learn a bit about different lighting techniques for portraits. The venue for this shoot was an old hairdressing salon in the main street of Cessnock, that has been turned into a space made available to artists for a small fee.

Over the course of several months we have experimented with using just one light, right through to using a combination of 4 lights with reflectors, umbrellas and soft boxes. For this session we had no model organised, so thankfully The Amazing Moo stepped in and was our model for the afternoon! Thanks Moo!

Here are a couple of shots from the session. The background was provided by a very colourful art piece in the room. Lights were used here to light the model, and to also light up the background.

My friend Naomi had been requested to take a cover shot for a magazine. Her chosen location was an old pump house at Richmond Vale.

It’s a place I’ve driven past before, but never stopped to photograph, so I opted to tag along with her.

Using an assortment of filters I was able to achieve a long shutter speed in the day light, which enabled the clouds to have a dramatic effect.

After Naomi got her shots here, she mentioned an old rusted out tractor on display a few minutes up the road. It sounded quite interesting, so we went and checked it out, and the result is below.

A bit further along the road we came across a couple of really old dilapidated houses which were just begging to be photographed. We grabbed a few shots and made a plan to return here at a later stage, with a model in tow!
